RESTORATION OF
BENEFIT OF ADDING YEARS OF QUALIFYING SERVICE FOR THE PURPOSE OF COMPUTING
GRATUITY (DCRG) : AIRMEN & NCS(E)
1. On implementation
of 6th CPC recommendations, the weightage being given to qualifying
service for purpose of computation of pension in respect of Airmen and NCs(E)
who were discharged/invalided out from Service with effect from 01 Jan 2006 was
withdrawn.
2. The
benefit of giving weightage of service for the purpose of computing Gratuity in
respect of Airmen & NCs(E) discharged/invalided on or after 01 Jan 2006 has
been restored w.e.f. 01 Jan 2006 vide Govt. of India Min. of Def letterNo.17(4)/2008(2)/D(Pen/Pol)Vol.VII dated 04 Oct 2010.
3. 5 years
of Weightage will be awarded to each rank subject to maximum 33 years of
service after adding years of qualifying service. Formula for calculation of DCRG benefits is
appended below:-
DCRG. [Total service + Weightage (05 yrs for all Ranks) (Max
33 yrs) x Pay in Pay Band + Grade Pay + MSP + Gp X Pay (if applicable) + Whole
of classification allowances (applicable for Sgts & below only) + DA]
divided by 2.
EXAMPLE: 765765S SGT SRI BANA BIHARI SAHOO ENG FIT
Date of Enrolment -- 08 Apr 1991
Date of Discharge -- 30 Apr 2011
Service up to Date of Discharge -- 20
yrs. 23 days.
(Pay in Band
Rs.11690 + MSP Rs.2000 + Grade Pay Rs.2800 + X GP Pay 1400 + Classification
Pay Rs.240) = Net Pay Rs.18130/-.
(Total service 20 yrs + weightage of 05 yrs) = 25 x
(Rs.18130 +Rs.11784) (Pay in Pay Band + 65% DA)/2 = Rs.373925.00
NET DCRG = Rs.373925.00
Note: Those who have been discharged after 01 Jan 2006 are to verify from their PPO whether they got the correct
amount of DCRG or not. If the amount of
DCRG arrived is without adding the Weightage of 5 years, they have to apply to : PENSION AND WELFARE

Ex.201674 Cpl.Rishi Kumar Bahl was enrolled in IAF on 8 May 1948 and was transferred to Regular Air Force Reserve on 08 May 1957 for a period of six years and was released from reserve liability on 15 Feb 1963. He requested for grant of pension for the first time vide his letter dated 30 Apr 2011 after 48 years of final release from Air Force. His claim was processed and his Pension PPO has been issued granting him arrears from the date of final discharge.
