SBI PENSIONERS’ ASSOCIATION (CHENNAI CIRCLE)
The Association’s Tirunelveli region conducted its annual meeting on 30-06.2010 at Raj Mahal Marriage Hall, Tirunelveli Jn. About 125 pensioners including some family pensioners attended the meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Shri R.Viswanathan, Asst General Manager, Regional Manager, Regional Business Office Tirunelveli. The Regional Secretary Shri E.Nambi welcomed the gathering. Pensioners who have attained the age of 70 during the year were honoured. The Branch Managers of local SBI branches were honoured by some senior members of the Association. Shri J.Edwin, Asst. Gen. Secretary of the State Bank Staff Union addressed and assured all possible support the cause of the pensioners.
The interactive session ended with one 76 year old pensioner Shri Swaminathan questioning about the plight of the 7th bipartite pensioners. He was eager to know whether the Association will get the improved pension during his life time. Though there were a number of 7th bipartite retires in the meeting, but none of them came forward to cry for their right at the forum. Probably, they have lost the hope of getting justice or they themselves do not understand what is the injustice being meted out to them.
The Vice President of the Assn. Sri D.G.Masilamani narrated the past history of the SBI pensioners association and the present shape. The crowd listened to his lively speech in pin drop silence. His speech was a great awakening to many sleeping members. It is high time that some young pensioners should join with such a selfless leaders to learn and help to negotiate with the government. I was deeply moved by his beautiful lecture. Only then I took out the camera to record such a great man in our Blog. His speech towards the necessity of Unity, confidence in the Organisation etc., etc., was excellent. The Association is really proud to have a Vice President of this caliber.
The General Secretary Shri PPS Moorthy, spoke elaborately about the position of their demands to the Govt. He said that, it is the Government and not the Bank which is blocking their legitimate rights. He requested the two powerful organizations of the SBI, the SBSU and the SBOA should support the cause of the pensioners. The General Secretary was confident in achieving their goals. Shri P.Gopalakarishnan, Retd. AGM and Shri Joshua,Retd. Chairman of Catholic Syrian Bank and former DGM of SBI also spoke at the meeting. Shri Balasubramanian delivered the vote of thanks. The meeting came to an end with National Anthem.
The SBI Pensioners sincerely thank Shri E.Nambi, the Regional Secretary for having arranged such a nice gathering.
A MESSAGE TO SERVING BROTHERS.
The two powerful organization of the SBI, the State Bank Staff Union and the State Bank Officers Association should remember one think that whatever may be you are, today in the bank, but after retirement, your pension will be the only savior for you and your wife. Remember, how the other bank unions have struggled to get just one more option for pension to its past and present employees, which they have neglected earlier. Now it appears that the SBI’s - SBSU and SBOAs are neglecting the cause of pensioners and the value of pension. Think about your elders. They are repenting for what they have done in the past, when they were commanding. Please do not repeat them now. Have compassion to your elders.
DO YOU KNOW THAT THE WIDOWS OF THE SBI EX-SERVICEMEN
PENSIONERS ARE NOT GETTING ANY FAMILY PENSION
FROM STATE BANK OF INDIA
IS IT NOT AN INJUSTICE ? HAVE YOU DONE ANY THING FOR THEM ? THE GUARDIANS OF NATION & THE LARGEST BANK ARE LEFT IN LURCH.
Almost all the members of the SBI Pensioners Association have contributed for the strength and growth of the SBSU and SBOA of what is today. Then is it not your responsibility to fight for the improvement in their pension? Please think it over.
Strengthen the hands of the SBI Pensioners Association’s Federation General Secretary Sheri PPS Moorthy for having a successful negotiation with Government for improvement in pension for the past, present and future pensioners.
Let us hope for the best.
