EX-SERVICEMEN AND SOCIAL WELFARE TRUST. (EXWEL TRUST, TIRUNELVELI)
The Ex-servicemen and social welfare trust was established on 22nd April 2006 by Sgt.R.Chellappa (Retd.) under Indian Trust Act Regn.No.757/2006.
This trust is being established by the Author of Trust with prime objective of uplifting the poor and weaker sections of the society in general and ex-servicemen and their families in particular.

There has been constant endeavor to help the poor and the poor ex-servicemen in various ways.
First of all the EXWEL Trust identified the Tirunelveli District Ex-servicemen Welfare Association and helped it by providing water and toilet facilities to the Association office at a cost of Rs.15,000 in the year 2006.
Later the Trust identified a Noon Meal centre at a slum area in Palayamkottai and donated 25 plastic chairs, water cans, utensils to the centre at a total cost of around Rs.5,000/-. On 10.5.2006.
The same year a free medical camp was arranged on 3.7.2006 with the help of local Shifa Hospital. The Managing Trustee was kind enough to donate a sum of Rs.15,000 to one Mr.P.Velayutham of Shencottah for Open Heart Surgery at Sree Chitrai Tirunal Institute at Trivandrum on 23.6.2006.
From the beginning the Trust is donating a sum of Rs.1000 every year to children of poor ex-servicemen for their education. On 25.7.2009, the Exwel Trust in Association with Shifa Hospital conducted a free medical camp and helped 10 poor ex-servicemen widows (Non pensioners) for cataract surgery. About 200 people attended the free medical camp got free consultation and medicine for various ailments.
The Trust is also taking active part in promoting a number of Women Self Groups. About 4 such Self Help Groups were arranged finance from local Canara Bank and Indian Bank. The members of the SHGs are given guidance in self employment, health care and social awareness activities.
Recently, in August, 2009, the Indian Bank, Palayamkottai Branch sanctioned a loan of Rs.4 lacs to one of our Self Groups (Mullai Jai Jawan Women’s Self Help Group). The photographs taken at the loan distribution function are displayed.
The future plan of the Trust is to start an aged home for the ex-servicemen and their families. At present the Trust is working on getting correct pension and arrears to all defence pensioners.

I find it so heartening to learn about the dedication of a group of Veterans who have set an example of selfless service to the members of a community that deserves special attention.I have addressed a personal email to Veteran R Chellappa & looking forward to his response.
I wish there were a more number of such dedicated group of Veterans who I see in the pictures which have been published by you .God bless you all for your examplery contributions.

I am an Ex service man (Army). Domestic flights have given 50% off on the flight ticket price for Ex Service Man, spouse and dependent children. They have issued Valid Photo ID card for Air Force and Navy retired person and his family. But they have not given it to Ex service man (Army). So they cannot benefit this concession.
To whom should I sent petition on this matter.
