CLAIMING LIFE TIME ARREARS OF A DECEASED PENSIONER

It has come to our notice that the Life Time Arrears (LTA) in respect of a large number of pensioners, who died during the period from 01.01.2006 to 31.12.2008 have not been paid to the legal heirs.

The orders for the revision of pension as per 6 CPC was issued only on 11.11.2008, therefore the pensioners who died during the period between 01.01.2006 to Jan 2009 could not get the arrears.  However, it is the duty of the pension paying bank to pay the arrears of 6 CPC as LTA to the legal heirs of the pensioners.  Unfortunately, neither the Bank is bothered nor the legal heirs of the deceased pensioners are aware of their entitlement.  As a result, crores of rupees allotted for revised pension remain undrawn in many bank branches. 

During the course of interactions with some of the families of deceased pensioners, we have noticed that the banks have not given proper guidance to the legal heirs to claim LTA.  In view of the above, all the legal heirs of the Defence pensioners must now check up the pass books of the deceased pensioners, verify for the payment of the LTA and claim immediately if not paid already.

Please note that the amount of LTA in respect of deceased aged pensioners (above 80 years), in respect of deceased Special family pensioners, in respect of deceased higher ranks like Subedar, Subedar Majors, Hon. Captains, and  of course  in respect of deceased officers will be coming more than one lakh..

So my dear readers, please be aware of the truth and help the legal heirs of the defence pensioners in getting their LTA from the banks.
