Veterans Affairs is a matter of great relevance and importance to the Army. AG’s Branch at the Army HQ deals with most of the subjects concerning Veterans, including their welfare. To facilitate one point contact for Veterans and achieve coordination amongst various directorates/agencies dealing with these issues, a Veteran Cell has been set up.

New Issues:
Grant of Family Pension Pending Enquiry to the NOK of JCOs/OR (Including those of DSC & TA) who are reported Missing: Family pension is paid to the NOK of the missing personnel after one year from the date of lodging of FIR with the police by the family and fulfillment of various laid down conditions.
Grant of Family Pension for Life to Handicapped Children. The physically ormentally handicapped children of Armed Forces Personnel having disability of 40% and above and unable to earn his/her livelihood even after attaining the age of 25 years and recommended by the Distt. Civil Surgeon are now entitled for family pension for life after death of his/her parents subject to meeting other conditions.
Family Pension to Unmarried Daughters. Unmarried daughters of Govt. servants/pensioners, even after attaining the age of 25 years, are eligible forfamily pension after demise of their parents at par with the widowed/divorced daughters subject to fulfillment of laid down conditions with effect from 06 Sec 07.
Fatal Physical Casualties. To meet the genuine needs of fatal physical casualties (non attributable) some benefits have been announced by COAS on 15 Jan 2011. These are:-
(a) Education Grant. Rs.400/- p.m. per child for a maximum of two children of Fatal Physical Casualties in addition to all existing grants/scholarship. This will not have any conditions attached to it.
(b) Financial Assistance for Higher Studies. Widows of Fatal Physical Casualties will be eligible for financial assistance of Rs.25,000/- from Army Welfare Corpus for their higher studies as being given to widows of Fatal Battle Casualties.
Modification of Bathrooms for Physical Casualties (Non Fatal) Soldiers whohave been disabled in service and who are wheel chair bound will receive financial assistance to a maximum of Rs.20,000/- for the modification of bathroom as being receivedby Battle Casualties of similar nature.
Demise Grant. Raised from Rs.3000/- to Rs.5000/-.
ADLR. The amount for Assured Decdent Last Rites Scheme has been increased from 2500 to Rs.5000.
