UPS’S death blow to the morale of Indian Armed Forces
B.R.Haran has rightly observed: ‘If Parliament is the ‘Heart’ of Democracy, then the Armed Forces can be called as the ‘Central Nervous System’, which is vital for the democracy to survive and succeed.
The political class might feel proud of being the Members of Parliament of the world’s largest democracy, but it had miserably failed to take care of its ‘central nervous system’, which is now threatening to complicate the system of democracy, which is not good for the health of the country’.
The Armed Forces, serving as well as retired, have been deeply perturbed by the callous attitude of the UPA government. They are all disappointed and demoralized by the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission head by Justice B>N> Srikrishna. In fact, the resentment in the Armed Forces has actually started from the third pay commission (1976) itself and it has been growing since then and has reached a boiling point now due to the total neglect of the essential needs, fundamental feelings, emotions and sentiments of the Armed Forces of India as a whole, by the Sixth Pay Commission. It is high time that the government wakes-up to the issue and solves, it, or otherwise, a volcano is waiting to erupt with disastrous consequences for our already weak nation’s future……….

Crooked and corrupt Indian Politicians (mostly belonging to the Congress Party) have been constructing innumerable statues and memorials at public cost to perpetuate their dastardly public deeds of crime and infamy. They have no time or grace or heart for the un-mourned and unsung heroes of our Armed Forces who have laid down their lives for the safety and integrity of our Motherland. The Officers and Men in the Armed Forces of India today are in a sad state and mood of general disappointment, depressions and dissatisfaction, which is having an adverse impact on their morale………………
In my view the following are the main legitimate grievances of the Armed Forces of India:
1. There is an imperative national need to have a separate Pay Commission for the Armed Forces of ndia.
2. One representative each from the Army, Navy and the Air Force will have to be included in all such Pay Commissions.
3. There has to be a revision of emoluments in the Armed Forces in an issue based manner and the long-standing demand for ‘One Rank One Pension’ has to be conceded forthwith to boost the sagging morale of the Armed Forces…..
The absence of Union Cabinet Ministers and serving Chiefs of Staff at the Funeral of Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw has caused bitterness and resentment among soldiers, ex-servicemen, social activists and general members of the public……..

(i) Heart broken & grieving parents.
(ii) A young aged widow, with a bleak future and the heavy responsibility of taking care of her aged in-laws and her orphaned young children without any resources.
The Question is: Who cares?
The answer is: Nobody.
Rather sad. Why? Perhaps not one soldier who has sacrificed his life for the Country is the son of a Politician or an IAS Officer or an IPS officer. Indeed Shameful. ……………
- There is growing sense of resentment amongst the MILITARY VETERANS, on account of their pain and anguish brought about by years of neglect and apathy by the government of India, in not addressing the various issues relating to their pension and resettlement.

- The Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Defence Minister of India have been made fully aware of the fact that the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission are grossly unfair to the personnel of the Defence Services and that it would adversely impact the morale of the Defence Services; which the Nation can ill afford and ignore at its own peril.
- The MILITARY VETERANS have decided to carryout a silent MARCH FOR JUSTICE on Sunday, 06 July 2008, in over 500 cities and town all over the country. Against this background, The MILITARY VETERANS have placed the following proposals for immediate acceptance and implementation.
- ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP) be sanctioned IMMEDIATELY. (For purposes of ‘Pension’ the term MILITARY VETERANS shall include: widows/parents/next of kin of soldiers who were killed in battle and also those who died in peace time, and in receipt of pension from Defense Dept.)
- Institution of adequate welfare measures for proper resettlement of MILITARY VETERANS and lateral induction of Officers and PBORs into Central and State Services and PSUs, at appropriate levels, so that MILITARY VETERANS too have just, fair and equal opportunities to upgrade themselves and retire at the age of 60 years, at higher levels and appointment.
- Reconstitution of the Pay Review Committee headed by the Cabinet Secretary by way of inclusion of serving Armed Forces personnel of the three services and a MILITARY VETERAL;
- In case, the government of India still continue to turn a deaf ear to the pleadings of the Military Veterans, the War Heroes and Widows of War Heroes of the 1948 J&K Operations against Pakistan, the 1962 War against China, the 1965 war and the 1971 war against Pakistan and the 1999 Kargil Operations against Pakistan and those who fought and still are fighting against the Pakistan backed Militants in Kashmir; honoured and decorated for their supreme sacrifice and bravery with gallantry medals, viz. Param Vir Chakra (PVC), Ashok Chakra (AC), Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) and Vir Chakra (VrC) have resolved to return their gallantry medals to the President of India. ……………
