A VISIT TO CORPORATION BANK

Smt.Indira Kannan receiving the letter to the Bank.
A CASUAL VISIT TO CORPORATION BANK
PALAYAMKOTTAI, TIRUNELVELI WAS
HELPFUL TO A WIDOW.

One of our friends, a learned retired JWO of IAF Shri Arumugam, requested our Trust to visit the local Corporation Bank and help to calculate the revised pension and arrears.

There were only 13 defense pensioners in that Branch.  The Bank branch had not received any circular to revise the pension so far.  On verification of the PPOs, we found one JWO’s wife was being paid SGT’s family pension and also to our surprise, the bank was recovering the commuted amount of the deceased pensioner (Ex.JWO LKR Kannan) from the pension of the same family pensioner.

In spite of a clear letter from the AFRO on the subject, the Bank continued recovery in the pension for the past 28 months.  After explaining error authoritatively to the Bank, correct pension was restored to the widow.  The Trust had arranged the arrear payment of Rs.53,743 to the widow.

Particulars of the family pensioner:-

Smt.Indira Kannan, W/O (Late) JWO LKR Kannan (S.No.680353 GP X)
Died on 16.2.2008. PPO No.08/14/B/Corr/09802/2003.
Corporation Bank, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli 627 002s. SB A/c No.13396.

Note: The Widow had made complaints to the Bank earlier.  But the bank ignored it.  Even now, the widow did not approach us, it is the Exwel Trust, which noted her address from the bank, contacted and got the payment

  1. can you tell whether an ex serviceman after joining PSB as an employee is entitled for DA at both places because one of my friend discharged in 1987 and joined union Bank Of India but latter on some one has advice him that he should give in writing to bank that if rule says my DA with pension should be stopped. The said person pay in bank has aalready been protected at the time of joinig. pl clariky.
