Pensions enhanced for soldiers, Junior Commissioned Officers.
New Delhi, July 6 (IANS) The government Monday announced enhanced pensions for soldiers and junior commissioned officers that will entail additional expenditure of Rs.2,100 crores per year.
'The decision will benefit 12 lakh pensioners. The allowances for the war wounded and disabled is also being liberalised,' Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said while presenting the budget for 2009-10 in the Lok Sabha.

Though a good news ,yet it merely fulfills partially the aspirations of PBORS Veterans.We should keep our fingers crossed till the full details are available as the Govt announcememnt is silent on raising the basic pension to 70% of last pay drawn.
ReplyDeleteThe move by the Govt not to include all pre 2006 veterans is apparently politically motivated to creat division amongst the ESM veterans.
In any case it is certainly some gain for the ESM community.
